Beth Littrell
Staff Attorney
After a few years in the music industry, and a few more in marketing, Beth returned to college to complete her undergraduate degree in 1996. She graduated from Georgia State University cum laude with a B.A. in Journalism in 1998, and immediately walked across campus to the College of Law to continue her pursuit of world change. Upon graduating in the top quarter of her class at Georgia State University’s College of Law in May of 2001, she was awarded the Don George Fellowship, a one-time four year grant to work on equality issues for orientation minorities at the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia. She created and coordinates the sticks & stones project, a public education campaign to reduce hate-based harassment in schools, and the Equal Liberty Project, a project working to achieve equal legal treatment for orientation and identity minorities in Georgia.
As an ACLU attorney, Beth educates, advocates and litigates on behalf of orientation minorities, women and students. She supplements her public interest salary by working as an Adjunct Professor at Georgia State University teaching a course on free speech in the Department of Communication. Since 2001, Beth has coordinated and appeared on dozens of panels relating to orientation, identity and the law, and received the Stonewall Bar Association’s Award for Outstanding Service to the Stonewall Community in 2002.
