Position Overview
The American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia (ACLU of GA) seeks to hire a full-time, Policy and Advocacy Project Coordinator. The ACLU of GA is the state affiliate of the national American Civil Liberties Union. Our mission is to preserve and expand the individual rights guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution, the Georgia Constitution, and related federal and state civil rights laws.

Reporting to the Policy and Advocacy Director, the Policy and Advocacy Project Coordinator provides critical support to the internal and external work of the policy and advocacy department, and in particular to the department’s leadership. The successful candidate will have impeccable attention to detail, be able to perform a wide range of administrative and operational tasks and be a strong self-starter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Provide general administrative support to the Policy and Advocacy team as requested and needed 
  • Scheduling meetings, managing, and drafting correspondence for the Policy and Advocacy Director
  • Manage multiple department email inboxes
  • Prepare and organize all necessary materials for meetings, including presentations, agendas, and supporting documents
  • Document meeting minutes during department, project, and campaign meetings, with prompt follow-up on action items
  • Organize and maintain departmental documents and records using SharePoint while facilitating easy accessibility and proper version control
  • Manage the PAD calendar, including coordinating internal and external event requests, and providing weekly snapshots of PAD team events, speaking engagements, and affiliate events
  • Act as the department liaison, maintaining communication with coalition partners, legislators, and community organizations
  • Support PAD Director in timely and efficient communication with other departments
  • Assist PAD intern supervisors with tasks such as scheduling interviews, organizing application materials, and coordinating PAD intern meetings and social events
  • Utilizing CRM tools such as Every Action and other relevant software  

Project Management

  • Utilizing project management tools to assist the Director in creating and organizing projects and campaigns
  • Working with the department’s Director to assign tasks appropriately and maintain project timelines to meet deadlines and achieve timely completion
  • Draft internal and external communications during various campaigns, including the legislative session, by sending daily emails
  • Coordinate with other departments to align project and campaign goals and objectives as requested by the Director
  • Support logistics for department programs, workshops, trainings, and community events

Operational Support

  • Update and maintain the affiliate's legislative tracker during Georgia's Legislative Session under the direction of the policy team
  • Prepare monthly expense reports for the Director and Deputy Director 
  • Collaborate with Finance department to reconcile budget discrepancies and assist in budget tracking by maintaining records of departmental expenses
  • Demonstrate cross-department collaboration and support by assisting with administrative tasks for other departments as needed


Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, political science, or a related field preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of project management or coordination experience, preferably within a policy, advocacy, or non-profit environment
  • Certifications such as Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) preferred

  • Proficiency with project management tools, preferably Asana
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Competence in utilizing CRM tools, such as Every Action
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and across various departments
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected challenges
  • Commitment to the mission of the ACLU of Georgia and understanding of civil liberties issues

Compensation
The ACLU of Georgia offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, commensurate with experience and within parameters of the ACLU of GA’s compensation scale. The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
