HB 479 – Repeals the citizens arrest statute

Summary:
- Repeals the statute allowing for arrest by private persons.
- Allows a law enforcement officer to make an arrest outside of the jurisdiction of his employing agency if
- an offense is committed within his presence or immediate knowledge,
- he is immediately pursuing an individual for an offense committed in his agency’s jurisdiction, or
- he is assisting another officer within his own agency’s jurisdiction.
