County Librarian Says She Was Harassed by People Who Disagreed With Books and Display

In recent years, bills in Georgia and across the nation have targeted books and other content written by Black, LGBTQIA+ authors, and others. Officials in school and public libraries have reported personal harassment and the destruction of displays and targeted staff attacks that seem to correlate with the introduction of these bills.

As Georgia Senate Bill 74, which would criminalize librarians for failing to remove books supporters claim are “harmful to minors,” advances, we talked to a librarian who says she left her position because of the harassment she faced from people who want to censure books.
