ATLANTA – ACLU of Georgia Executive Director, Andrea Young will speak at today’s press conference in support of the Southern Student Movement on the anniversary of the original Atlanta Student Movement action on March 15, 1960. The press conference will be held today at 1pm on the west side steps outside the Capitol, facing Washington Street.

The ACLU of Georgia supports the Georgia students that are working towards racial, social, and educational equity. Last week, these students delivered demand letters to lawmakers as part of The Southern Student Rights Appeal to advocate for “fully funded, uncensored education, access to the ballot-box and inclusive leadership that does not target marginalized children”.

ACLU of Georgia Executive Director Andrea Young states: “Sixty-two years ago the Atlanta Student Movement issued a call to the conscience of this community's leaders. Today, we are proud to support the call of a new generation- calling on Georgia's leaders to support a multi-cultural, multi-racial and inclusive democracy in our state.”
