ATLANTA – On Friday, September 22, U.S. District Court Judge J.P. Boulee will hear arguments on a motion for preliminary injunction in Sixth District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church v. Kemp and consolidated cases challenging a sweeping Georgia law passed in 2021 that makes it harder for voters of color and voters with disabilities in the state to cast a ballot and have it counted.
The hearing begins at 8:30 a.m. ET. If the plaintiffs prevail in the hearing, the judge could issue an order blocking several provisions of the law.
The plaintiffs in Sixth District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church v. Kemp are represented by the Southern Poverty Law Center, American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of Georgia, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund Inc. and the law firms of Davis Wright Tremaine and WilmerHale.
